One thing that I’ve struggled with is making an (incorrect) decision on a single sensor glucose reading. I certainly have overreacted when seeing the down arrows. It’s easy to do. It can be scary to see the down arrows. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Likewise, I’ve overreacted when seeing up arrows.⬆️⬆️⬆️

But, it’s just one moment in time, and it’s actually a moment in the past. The reading is delayed a bit.

Every 5 minutes, it updates with a new glucose reading. (CGMs may vary on the exact frequency of updates.)

If you want more information, do a blood glucose test.

If you already did insulin, don’t do more! Wait an hour and see.

If you already ate something sweet, don’t eat more! Wait 15 mins to see how you’re responding to the sugar.

Wait and re-test.

Treating diabetes is a waiting game.

Wait for the insulin to work.

Wait for the food to start working.

Remember, it’s just a single moment in time. It tells you if your blood glucose was rising or dropping at that moment.
